Jesus Dies on the Cross
As Jesus hung on the cross, suspended only by two nails in his hands and two nails in his feet, some soldiers noticed he was thirsty. They offered him a sponge they had soaked in wine, but Jesus refused to drink.
Many people who saw Jesus hanging there called him names and made fun of him. The soldiers made a sign that they put above Jesus on the cross. It read, “Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews.” They did not really believe in him. They were mocking him and making fun of him just like most of the other people.
